Key Notes - Vote National for a strong, stable Government

In this final issue of Key Notes for Campaign 2011 I talk about the National Party Bus Tour, our post-election action plan - and thank all of you for your support.

VOTE NATIONAL FOR A STRONG, STABLE GOVERNMENT

I'm on the National Party Bus Tour for the last couple of days of the election campaign. I'll be taking the opportunity to talk to voters in towns and cities along the way about National's plan to build a brighter future for families, and seek their support on Saturday.

I'm urging all our supporters to get out and give their party vote to National. Your party vote is crucial under MMP. Only the party vote determines the make-up of the Government after the election.  Every party vote for National is vital to ensure a strong, stable National-led Government.

OUR POST-ELECTION ACTION PLAN

Yesterday I laid out National's Post-Election Action Plan.

It outlines the immediate and critical steps we'll take to secure a brighter future for New Zealand families in a turbulent world.

We'll get straight back to work on making our economy stronger, by balancing the books, repaying debt, and creating more jobs. We'll also take steps in other important areas - welfare, law and order, education, health and rebuilding Canterbury.

To carry out this plan, we need a strong, stable National-led Government and only a party vote for National can deliver that.

You can read all National's policies here.

THANK YOU

I'd like to say thanks to all National Party members and supporters for their hard work during the campaign.

In the lead-up to the election I've been working hard alongside our team to make sure New Zealanders know we can keep building a brighter future if they give their party vote to National this Saturday.

We've relied on the support and generosity of National Party members and supporters to fund this campaign, so I'd like to thank you for your support.

Best wishes,

John Key
Prime Minister

26 nov 2011, Our best wishes to John Key and the team for today. Its about time we have a leader who truly believes in doing something for the country , and with transparency. The national govt does not encourage giving out handouts and benefits, sure you have to too the needful, but it has been abused to a big extent. Sure , the nz economy has not been at its best lately, but it has still weathered better than many, including Europe and the us which are going through a major debt crisis. Hence, the idea behind the partial sale of govt assets to repay debt does make sense. This will also reduce our interest payments on our borrowings. I hope that there is a preference to sell these to New Zealanders rather than overseas buyers. The idea of deferring the emissions tax on the farmers and the capital gains policy also have credibility. All the best, and god bless John Key and the team.

Dear John, I am sorry to say that this is first election I have not voted for you or National as I am so disappointed in your asset sales policy. Everything else you are doing is great so why go ahead with what has been a ruinous policy in the past. PLEASE don't sell our assets! I trust that you and the new government you form will consider this very carefully.

I want to thank you too John, it has been a very hard 3 years, and you have endured it well. You have worked hard alongside your wonderful MP's I am so hoping we are going to keep you as Prime Minister, because you are terrific. All the very best John to you and your team for Saturday. 2 ticks National.

Hi Mr Key, Though I'm not a New Zealander, here's wishing you all the best in the election on Saturday. I lived in Singapore but you have my support from here. Take care and cheers Lola

Dear Sir, I wish you and your colleges the very best for Saturday, and you certainly have my support. I am writing to let you know of the disappointment that I feel of the way that the RUC review has been handled, and that we are throwing out a world class system and are now trying to put square pegs in round holes. The proposed system is overly simplistic and will have a negative effect on transport in NZ. I have got a TV campaign starting in February to get the message out to Truckies, and to the public as far as the compromise in safety is concerned. Thank you very much for the opportunity to have my say. Kind Regards Tony Milham

Dear John, I feel, like a lot of NZers that discussion on the pluses and minuses of Asset sales would be well worthwhile. I worry that the proceeds of any such sales, will be lost, if not assigned to debt repayments. And if NZ retained ownership of these assets, would not the dividends meet more than the interest payable on the asset values? To me this is the main stumbling block with the National party policy at present. Kind regards Hugh

I appreciate the hard work you have done for NZ. You deserve to be richly rewarded on Saturday night. All the Best!

#7 - Evelyn Brown 2011-11-24 19:34 - (Reply)

Good luck Mr John, we have faith in you, just do not sell too many of our assets At long last a party has finally come out and had the gumption to question our sad situation of so many people on benefits. It only took NZ and misguided policies 35 years to create so many people who have lost the ability to work ,be proud and have a happy future. Go do it. Evelyn Brown xx

Hi John, I support all that you are standing for - except asset sales. Please review your policy on asset sales - they are not the financial answer. If the economy improves the assets could bring welcome returns. I will be voting national and especially for Nathan Guy - a great local MP. Rgds, JWR.

#9 - Clifford King 2011-11-24 20:21 - (Reply)

I will also vote Party Vote National because that is the best option for New Zealand. The alternatives are less attractive but would probably benefit me more in a personal sense. My wife and I are superannuitants and we have an adult son without regular employment. Why are we not included in any official definition of "a family"? Some times it is very hard to put the country's interest before one's personal interests. We wish you good fortune.

Great newsletter Mr Key. You have been an admirable PM for our country in the past three years. You have shown great leadership skills during our trouble times. I do pray and hope that NZ continues to stay Nuclear and GM free under your leadership too. I will vote for you again. You don't need luck this weekend...you will be our PM again, but in return we need you to look after our country and skilled people...we don't want skilled people leaving this country...

Good luck to you and your team on Saturday John. I am sure that all will go really well and that we shall see some more 'blue' electorates in the camp. Thanks for a great three years - I think that history will look back very favourably on 2008 as a year that NZ changed course and entered into an exciting new era. You have had a lot to cope with and it looks as though we will have major challenges ahead. I feel confident that you have by far and away the best team to look after our interests. To be honest John you look totally buggered so try and get a few days break as soon as is feasible.

Best wishes John Key, You did well, showing strong character and that's what we need in leading our Nation. The future won't be easy but with everyone helping to support our economy we will get through. God bless you!

Mr Prime Minister Your campaign has been followed with keen interest, as it is my first time to participate as a new Kiwi. Clearly you are a gentleman of standing and it shows in your TV debates with various members from the other potential party spokespersons. However, I think you would benefit immensely were you to see a movie currently on the circuit entitled "COURAGEOUS" - as it would provide you with the appropriate fuel to disarm any wannabees - your commitment and leadership style is absolutely impeccable and the best path to follow for NZ. Your team efforts to right the wrongs of so many previous buffoons and athiest to boot have been a thankless task but you have done it with aplomb. Now it is time to focus on all the under 40's and start a massive awareness campaign on "RESPECT & SELF-RESPECT' two vital and integral components of a respected society - without which you end up with a country of mediocres and which undermines the fabric of those who were privileged to have the 'old school' as mentors. In passing these two terms would see so many of the bad / wrong / evil / dishonest / disobedient activities cease in this country and afford the existing legislation a time to rest Have faith and Keep up your good work [believe me were I 20 yrs younger I would seriously apply to come on board and participate in rebuilding and restoring some of the sadder fabrics of this country's culture and esprit de corps to its former top 5 positions in the world], and you will be able to continue with your mission on Monday following your well desreved Victory .

I wish you and National every success and look forward to a National lead government. Hope sufficient NZers do also. Good luck come Saturday.

#15 - Garth Galloway 2011-11-25 07:20 - (Reply)

Dear Mr Key, Wishing you every success for tomorrow!! It has been a very hard 3years for you and your dedication has been valued by many. May you get the majority you deserve and be able to make the difference in the next 3years. Good Luck Garth Galloway

Well done John, to you and your team! As long as you keep it going as a Team, then you will continue to have my support. This year we will see MMP working as it is meant to work, and return a majority govt...

Go forward, not backwards. Welfare is a valid and often very necessary 'help' for the needy, not a Career option. Step it up John, you're thinking is bold and right on, we need to create wealth and once you're in.... look out all the others.

I want to vote for National but there is no candidate standing for Te Tai Tonga electorate. Why? I have spoken to others on the Maori Roll in this area who are of like mind.

#19 - G Ball 2011-11-25 11:30 - (Reply)

Re asset sales why are you not referring to Labour's history there as they made some very costly decisions for the country. What about the sell off of the jets which sat for years! I think national needs to pick up on the history of Labour. Labour promised us the price of electricity wouldn't rise when they changed the industry!!You have to appeal to the emotions of people they don't understand facts and figures.Labour haven't given us anything constructive as to how they are going to carry out their policies but the general public don't see this. Labour cut out all the polytech trades courses and apprenticeships!!!Now they blame National! These are so important as so many young people aren't book people but are really talented practically. Get stuck into Labours history!

#20 - Dr Ivan Petroff 2011-11-25 11:39 - (Reply)

Well done, John and team! But let us delay our joy and congratulations by another 30 hours. Over complacency could be dangerous. Tomorrow all National party supporters must call and contact their relatives and friends to urge them to vote. Every single vote counts. What could be more pointed out and emphasised during the campaign is the fact that during the last three years of world economic and financial turbulence, New Zealand remained relatively unscathed compared to the big economic powers, such as the US, Japan, UK, and others. Best wishes, Dr Ivan Petroff

I am a National supporter, however my grandchildren tell me Winston Peters has promised to pay half their student loans off, and they are voting for him. This worries me.

The BEST man, and 'clear thinking' people won. This is the ONLY group that can take us through the VERY HARD next 3 years. Well done. There was NO comparison, it was like night and day...

I don't seem to have much time for Facebook as my husband is doing night shift as a security guy he doesn't either and so. I just want to say you have had a hell year in some ways with all the disasters and we hope our little country doesn't have too many more to dominate the forwardness of the getting through the economics to the other side. You are the best PM in a long time and I wouldn't have liked any other or felt more secure than I have with you at the helm. I wish you all the best as you have to dodge the rocks and steer our country into better times. You certainly have every success in the forward thinking dept. You have everyone behind and now beside you to ENDEAVOUR to forge through all the rough seas and uncharted courses ahead for the future.I feel proud to have you as our Prime Minister and it's not easy keeping a sinking ship afloat. It is a we project and it takes everyone to make New Zealand the desirable place it can be. Congratulations on every proven and unproven moments ahead. Mary-Ellen Smith.

He who exercises government by means of his virtue may be compared to the north polar star, which keeps its place and all the stars turn towards it - Saying by Confucius.

#25 - Paula Wagstaff 2011-11-29 12:46 - (Reply)

WOW Arihia, that is so true. Well said!! Someone get a plaque for JK's desk with that on. Also, was such a man as King David, who led the people with the same attributes, as it was said, he had a heart after Gods, which is why God chose him above all the others, and one who was born for such a time as this. Now watch the mockers and scoffes come out...its OK they are always mouthing off, but it is what we know, that comes to pass.
