VIDEO: Journal 15 - on local government, exchange rates and lamed ducks

Just back from recess, John talks about National's local government policies (click here to read the speech and comment), the exchange rate (with his prediction for what's next) and the "lame duck" Labour Government's failure to progress a bill establishing a joint trans-Tasman therapeutic goods agency.

What are you doing to help New Zealand exporters? This is a national interest issue: the time for cheap political points scoring is OVER.

I am currently developing a new product but the system of getting introduce to the market takes too long with the support from the government. NZ should look at putting more money on a Creative Market so people with ideas not only create jobs for themselves but exports of their products.Way behind Asia and the States Innovative Government system. We are only looking at IT and not everyone are IT oriented. I feel this is the key factor of improving NZ as looking more closely at themselves and their business ideas that will develope NZ.If we tested the market locally obviously international market tells. Get back to me of what you think. I also sent your Media personal on some concern. Ms Bennet she will inform you. Regards Danny

The issue of the Public Service being open to employees of every political persuasion should be a priority for the National Party as we run towards the next election. 'Political Correctness' is often an unspoken prerequisite to Public Service emloyment. Discrimination is often far more subtle than the case raised today re. the girlfriend of the National Party Press secretary. Members of the Public Service have a critical role in forming public opinion. The National Party should take a stand on this one.
