Dear National I would like to ask you to address the media about the current innuendo and smear going around especially from the blog – “The Standard’ about John Key’s involvement with the Exclusive Brethren prior to the last election. If this is true, John Key must come clean, or else, the Labour Party will continue to ‘drip-feed’ the info up to the election and destroy Key’s credibility with it. If it is not true, it remains for National to invite Labour to ‘put up or shut up’, and take some kind of strategic advantage from it. I’d suggest that either of these approaches will be an improvement on the present situation. With Regards: Lee Clark

Hi John, for me I'm not so concerned about the size of the surplus but as the way this money is utilised. I'm more concerned that by the time we get a change of government that the surplus will be gobbled up by the huge increase in Bureaucracy on all levels of government including the local gorverment. We are continally being asked to refrain from asking for pay increases while every thing around is raising including company profits, certainly local body rates are soaring out of control and what to you intend to do about it if you get in power

Hi John, I share concerns about the Local Government Act 2002. Councils now have an out when challenged over the lack of provision of basic infrastructure. Will we see a return to Councils obligation to provide the basics before spending on "Coummuntiy outcomes". These draft plans hold no key performance indicators. I live in a small rural Alpine enviroment adjacent to a National Park. Its a scandal how poorly serviced our community is. Council however, have just completed a lovely new head office building!! If you want to see waste, corruption and inactivity, come visit Tongariro National Park and its environs. Its third world. We don't require drafts, outcomes and pathways. We need roads, wastewater, rubbish, footpaths and get told to put them on 10 - 20 year wishlists. Even these are not met within those time frames. Since when have basic services become wishes? Derek

Law & Order. This is of vital concern to many and will be an Election issue. You need to develop a comprehensive plan covering the short, medium and long term. We need to get tough on Crime, change the way we educate people and change the amount of exposure people have to violence on TV etc. People involved in sedition, terrorist activities, drug manufacture or drug selling should face the death penalty or life imprisonment in harsh conditions. Ask any school teacher - the kids at school today are worse than a few years ago - when they graduate from school the crime rate will rise if we do not act quickly. Get your policy on law and order out without delay.

John, what's National's policy on wages? Last time your lot were in you introduced the Employment Contracts Act and Kiwis had their wages go backwards. That's a big reason we've got such a low wage economy and why people are leaving for better pay in Australia. How do I know my $20 tax cut isn't going to be eaten up by a $40 pay cut caused by your employment policies?
