I am so looking forward to a change in Govt, On Tax cuts, everyone seems to have missed a golden opportunity and area of public frustration Petrol taxes are going up AGAIN in April (ACC levies?) John Key should make statements about dropping this new tax and in fact lower petrol tax overall as a fair and equitable "tax cut" for all NZ'ers. Everyone will love this and it would be seen as a fair approach and affect everything from food prices to stimulating the business environment. Looking forward to seeing John in office in 08 P.S Not sure about the boot camps....Good idea but hard to execute en mass.....Work for the Dole is or (train for the Dole i.e heard a skill) is a better option.

I'm looking Forward to a Change in Govt. Sure I'm in a great job that i love and have a wife at home with my 18 month old so i shouldn't complain, right? Well I typing this to complain. I'm a Dad working Full-Time, have been working Full-Time for 13 years so When it came round to having a baby I asked, "what benefits or rewards I get as a dad?" and found out i only get three weeks unpaid leave therefore I was forced to use my well earned annual leave to spend time with my new family Also The "Working For Family's" thing the Govt set-up for us workers on one-income is sposed to help, right? well just the other day they rang us telling us they need to stop the money or "Tax-Credits" we've been receiving Why? you might ask, It was because of the amount of Over-Time I've been earning - The Over Time is needed to keep "Bills" at bay especially with rising food/petrol/power & everything costs My pay-rise this year was only 4% this is sposed to cover 6% inflation and interest rate rises plus food/petrol/power & everything YES i know i might be venting and that others are in a similar and/or worse situation MY POINT is I'm telling you that "I shouldn't be struggling" and yet i am it is now time for me to tell anyone who will listen This Govt is not helping me in any way, where are these Tax-Cuts? even $10 a week is $520 at Xmas i other-wise wouldn't have Why is Cheese more expensive than Gold-Plated metal? Why do they allow Dairy to drain our water-ways to feed Green-Grass to cows then put the price of Milk/Cheese up - It should be cheaper than my favourite "Coke" - Why is there no TAX on Crap/Fatty/Sugar foods to supplement the cheaper Milk/Water/Bread/Cheese/Butter They Tax cigarettes & alcohol plus anything people deem as "fun", so it shouldn't be hard to do Winter is coming and my power bill to run a Heat-Pump and Hall-Way heater (Clean & Green heat) will double and/or triple in cost LUCKY my little one is bigger than last winter and will be able to survive cooler temps because a trip to the doctor is thankfully only a cost of Petrol to get there SO I'm happy about that, and I have plenty of sick-days saved up to look after her - Yay can't wait Cheers Kris

What is the National Party's solution to the Leaky Homes Disaster? Over 80,000 homes are decaying right now. Will you give interest free loans to immediately repair, repayable upon compensation from those culpable? Give a glimmer of hope... perhaps 80,000 families and their friends and relatives may vote your way...

I am one of many young New Zealanders who has moved overseas, in my case to the UK, because of the greater opportunities on offer. I am comitted to returning to New Zealand in the future but I know many who are not because of what they see happening socially and politically back home. How are we, as a party, going to encourage these people to vote National and make New Zealand a better place to come home to?

Good luck John. Now - about time SOMEONE thought of holding GST to a base cost of 12.5 cents per litre. We could all benefit from that. Look forward to seeing you in control 08

I am very dissapointed with john keys meeting of and apparent support towards maori activist Tama iti ,with his impending court case still due for apparent terrorist charges? . I find it illconceived and frankly was very suprised and dissapointed at your meeting at Waitangi. I thought I had quite easily decided how i would vote this year ,in fact i was 100% sure how i would vote, now that is all gone and I may look elsewhere than national for my vote. I have also heard from others and you only need to read the press do you see it was a stupid thing to do. I hope your other decisions in office which i'm sure you will be PM will at least be thought through first rather than others making up your mind for you.

Hi Ron In part, I agree with you, commenting on Mr Key greeting Tama iti, but as an Osteopath I have to deal with many people I wouldn't otherwise like to because of my public availability. A very smart man told me once that you keep youir friends close and your enemies closer. Tama iti may not be an 'enemy' in the usual sense but as a 'Public servant' in the general sense Mr Key unfortuantely rubs noses with many people. To change your vote over such a fletting display is why I believe too many NZers have become fical minded and self-serving without foresight. I say good luck to you in your quest to find something that suits your narrow voting perspective. The National Party and more importantly, New Zealand, does not need such narrow, simplistic approach from its people.

As a retired primary teacher I endorse your policies on school reporting, Plain English curricula and the early and efficient focus on mathematical and literacy skills. I further recommend that (a) ERO teams spend more time in talking to classroom teachers and getting their feedback (b) putting reasonable limits on teachers' hours of work and (c) drastically reduce paperwork for small schools. The Principals there already have enough to do teaching multi-level classes!! For those interested in Plain English curricula I recommend you look at the Primary School Curriculum of Singapore. ( Go to Ministry of Education, Singapore)

Hi John, Best of luck for election year 2008. I love your positive outlook and the effort the National party seem to be putting into building some sensible policies. It's a long and challenging road ahead for your team, but I hope it will not be without its rewards.

How about offering us some hope of living in a decent safe and clean environment. I live in South Auckland and it may as well be the wild west. I am sick of hearing platitudes and quick fix solutions blabbed on about. This needs a concerted and multi faceted approach not to mention a few BALLS. For what it is worth here are some of my suggestions. Get enough police. There should be cops everywhere. There used to be. There must be an expectation of getting caught! Treat graffiti and litter as a CRIME. Ban Rap music (only half joking). I and my family will all be voting National. We are not reactionary rednecks just working people who are sick of living in a country that rewards poor behaviour and penalises those that act responsibly. Bye the way I do not give a toss about tax cuts. I want the country to work properly and will gladly pay more tax if that is what it takes.

Good to hear a lot of positive about NZ. Besides tax cuts (which is only tax that has been paid too much in the first place) "given "back another big issue for a lot of people is medical insurance. How is it that that is not tax deductable as now we pay twice!
