Deja Vu? Don't some of Helens ideas seem familiar to that of which the National party have been saying already.

I agree, it was a good speech, but after 9 years of National Government from 1990-9, why weren't these issues (which aren't new) addressed and tackled? Why should New Zealanders believe that the next National Government will be better or more effective than the last? I left the country with my family in 2000 because after 9 years of National Government, we felt the country had become 'boring' and 'flat', that there was little hope of progress and the cost of living and education as opposed to income was causing us considerable stress. We returned after 5 years without National to a country which felt more positive and in which there were more opportunities for us. Many problems still exist, but I fear that National will return us to the 90s when they campaigned by telling us after years of Government that 'the best is yet to come', much like Labour is now saying.
