Totally agree with John! NZ needs a change! Why did Helen Clark say earlier in the week "big oil price rises, which have seen petrol reach $2 a litre, appeared to be achieving the schemes’ goal of discouraging private car use." The only thing is – she’s wrong. The Ministry of Economic Development maintain information on fuel use and prices going back to 2004. Overall, in the last 4 years there has been an increase in the price from March 2004 to December 2007 of 39%, and yet there has been no significant decrease in usage in petrol over that time. In fact there has been a slight increase. Even in Wellington – with data to March 2008, there has been a reduction in petrol consumption of only 2.4% comparing the years 2004 and 2007 - this is the city where only 28% of people say they don’t have a public transport choice.

Hi John, I sincerely hope you will be our next Prime Minister. You'll get a damned difficult job though to clear up in the mess this Government has made up for you. (They actually deserve to rule another three years for this) What frightens me most about Helen Clark and the Labour Government is the abolition of what we know as democracy. Twenty dollars more or less in my pocket per week doesn't really bother me too much. But that this Government could not care at s... about what we think, mean or want; that disgusts me. Even more so when they prevent me from saying what I mean, want and think. That's what Hitler, Stalin,Mao Tse Tung, Pol Pot did. All good socialists. But John, you must learn how to express yourself more clearly without letting one word flow over in the next. I am a well educated immigrant with reasonable good English language skills, but I have problems to understand all what you say. What this concerns, Helen Clark and her Ministers well educated in the Marxist-Leninist dialectic have a lot to teach you. Kind regards, Stig
