IAt lunch with former All Blacks Michael Jones and Inga Tuigamala t was an exciting day for me in South Auckland yesterday when I announced a trades academy at the Southern Cross campus and National got endorsements from two sporting greats.

Former All Blacks Michael Jones and Inga Tuigamala joined me at the campus, which is a decile one state school in Mangere, for the announcement of $6 million dollars to build the new trades academy for the South Auckland area.

I was particularly excited at this announcement, because quality education is something I care passionately about.

I am keen for a National-led government to fund four more of these trades academies in the first term of a new government.

The reaction from children at the school was amazing, with many crowding around and asking for my autograph.

I was also pleased to get the endorsement of Michael and Inga for the direction that National wants to take the country in.

Although we have traditionally not enjoyed a great level of support from Pacific Island communities, I think that this could change.

Michael and Inga said yesterday that they shared many of the values in common with National.

Pacific Island communities will make up an increasingly important part of the country's future.

Today I am campaigning in Tauranga and Rotorua.

I'm in Ningbo, China, talking with manufacturers and contemplating the closure of our South Auckland factory. I'm a New Zealander who moved to Australia with my family two years ago, because of the derth of vision and leadership in New Zealand. I took the opportunity to watch the "Great Leaders Debate" on the TV3 webiste last nite - having cast my vote two weeks ago from Australia. All I can say is that my great disappointment continues - neither Clark nor yourself provided even a glimmer of leadership or vision for the country, and the contrast to the candidates for the US election couldn't be clearer. Your lucky that the ocuntry is so over Clark, and that I voted in your favour before seeing the debate. If you do win on the day, the country needs and deserves much better than you have displayed so far. Ends Andrew Gunn

John - horrified to see Labour's advert on TV last night. Where's National's response!? National never hit back hard enough, but a young woman with a child saying she can't' trust you - ridiculous and something should be done about it other National are going to lose yet again. You need to hit back hard - tell us that you understand what it's like to have a family, to support children etc, unlike Helen Clarke who has no idea the pressures families in NZ face. How could she? She's never had children and never even had a "normal job", other than being an academic and then diving straight into politics. You have life experience, children, financial understanding - I'm going to vote for you, but for all those families under the Labour web, *YOU NEED TO CONVINCE THEM, AND NATIONAL ARE NOT DOING A VERY GOOD JOB OF IT!* Play dirty and hit her where it hurts, because I don't want to live in a Labour led country any longer.

Good on you John and the Team, I knew there would be support from others in the community. Yep John you are definitely going to be our next Prime Minister. Im loving it already. Kia ora to Inga and Michael, lets keep the fire burning for our people, lets make it better for our kids who are failing at school, lets keep it stronger for our adult young people, who will have jobs to go to, and get their Mana back, where it should never have left. This is a fantastic Day..... Keep strong John and the Team

Well done on the announcement of the trades academy which I believe is a fantastic initiative. I thought your debate last night on TV3 with Helen Clarke was strong. I do believe however that you will need to be even stronger in the final leaders debate Wednesday night TV1. The final leaders debate will be the most important debate of your campaign. Stay calm and don't be bated by Helen. Stay focused to your beliefs because that is what we also believe in. Good luck for Saturday John.

David.....how can you possibly think that anyone except maybe John Campbell had a strong performance last night. I was very disappointed. I have been a supporter of National for a couple of years now but I think this is a move away from Labour rather than a move towards National. We need strong leadership and a vote of confidence. C'mon John (Key) show us some strength.

I'm sure I speak on a lot of fellow New Zealander's behalf in saying that I will seriously think of leaving this beautiful country of ours to find an easier way to make a living if Labour make it in for another term. Regular Kiwi's are struggling under this government and it will only get worse if Chairman Clark and Commissioner Cullen get another term. TIME FOR CHANGE!! Good luck John

John, I have heard similar talks from my workmates. However, the election result could dismay you and the lot. Labour could win another term even many terms in a row. There are two things backing my speculation. The first is MMP. It works perfectly for Labour, Greens, and other wacky parties. The absolute number of voters for all above parties could be easily over 50%. The second is that Labour has been engineered its voter pool in the last nine years by purposely getting people relying on government in all shapes and forms who will vote labour (example will be the increased public servants recruited under Labour's regime, the tertiary students, the beneficiaries, name a few), or getting people into the country which would most likely fall into this pool. You may need to tell you friends to be ready to move to Australia, which would be sad, of course, and which would just play into Labour's hands. The picture is not good, I am afraid.

What about National's commitment to rid the MMP? I vote any party which commits itself to remove the MMP. I am sick of seeing dirty deals made under the umbrella of MMP, and that druggies or criminals became a MP.

If Labour is back again I can see us moving more towards a totally depend country. We need to bring back a culture of personal responsibility and aspiration. Where do the Greens and Labour think the money comes from for all of their programs? It is about time entrepreneurs where given more recognition - look at the latest honors that were handed out recently, they were nearly all for politicians and hardly any business people ! That sums up NZ at the moment. Good luck John!

I am pleased to see that the National Party allows free speech on it's website by the looks of it by showing negative comments. I have been disappointed by especially Labour's dirty politicking of recent. Your 'initial plan' on being elected is also well put. This is going to be a very close election I feel.

We have been deceived and hoodwinked into so many laws and rules that are nothing what a nanny state is all about, and under Helen Clark. Her Senior ministers are good at making turnarounds to suit themselves esp. Cullen. We need immediate change in our governance, like US, to be more compassionate, firm, pro disciplinarian, better with financial forecasts and better ability and expertise to analyse the statistics affecting NZ and the world in general. We do not want the types and minds of Sue Bradfords to dictate our lifestyle. You did a statesman-like debate in a calm and collected manner without innuendos unlike Helen and her manly-bulldozing style which her puppies in the last Parliament lived with. You be the politician of higher calibre with grassroot attention and attachment and I am sure the people, even Labour supporters, will change and support you later for the better goods delivered by your Government.. a word of caution though, do not go back on your promises for that is what will get you the votes to be the PM. All the Best and congratulations in advance. Kiran

Why is Labour saying what they will do if they are relected. They have had 9 years to carry out those policies and achive what is required, so do we wait another 9 years on a promise not on your life. Build as many prisons it takes to get the scum off the streets invest in this country and make it grow. No doubt Aunty Helen will bleet on about what they are going to do tonight. It is time for a change.
