Mt Albert by-election date announced

The by-election for the vacant seat of Mt Albert will take place on Saturday 13 June, Prime Minister John Key announced today.

“The resignation of Labour MP Helen Clark has created this vacancy, which was gazetted this morning,” says Mr Key.

“Accordingly it is appropriate to set a date for the by-election. I have taken the advice of the Chief Electoral Officer on this matter.

“I have been advised that with the election date of June 13, Writ Day will be Monday, 11 May. The last date for candidate nominations to be received will be Tuesday, 19 May, and the last day for the return of the Writ will be Tuesday, 30 June.”

Dear PM I hope we are going to be having a high profile candidate like MP Melissa Lee as the National Party Candidate for up coming Mt. Albert By election. We have got to win this seat from Labour and we are already preparing our ammunation to bomb Labour in support of Melissa Lee and although we have never met Ms Lee only read her profile and heard her Inaugral speech in Parliament we believe she is the right candidate for National for Mt. Albert. We also need some one like Melissa a good communicator to fix the problems in Mt. Albert that has been neglected because we had a high profile MP in the past who did nothing at a local level not even provided us with a permanent and regular community constable for so many years leave alone hear our other majour problems of crime and gangs in the Mt. Albert Electorate. Thank You for your time Sincerely Keith and Josephine Coelho
