good plan on welfare reform and on mining. it is absurd to ignore such resources. development will create jobs, wealth and improve the welfare of all nz'ers without, in my view, creating significant impact when compared to the whole conservation estate. welfare reform seems sensible to me - we must create a presumption in favour of work, and a healthy pressure on all to work to the best of their capability

It is an excellent idea to tap New Zealand's mining and oil resources. This will create jobs in mining and possibly in some downstream industries. This in turn will cause a multiplier effect on the GDP growth.Keeping the hidden wealth unutilised does not make sense. So long as the environmental factors are taken into consideration, it should be acceptable to all.Changes proposed the welfare system are welcome as well.

Mining need not effect environment integrity in the medium term. The hysterical objections of the "greenies" are appropriate for the short term (2 to 10 yrs)and need to be dealt with in a progressive way that solves the problems for the long term.Indeed, the end result is often a significant enhancement of the present state. The speed of regeneration of flora and subsequent fauna is a factor that must be noted in decision making.
