Video: John Responds No.2

Prime Minister John Key responds to comments and questions posted on his website, Facebook pages and Twitter. The three issues he picks for this video are a Facebook query about whether NZ can actually catch up with Australia in economic terms, another Facebook question about the wisdom of raising the price of cigarettes, and, finally, a question that's come up on all his pages about the decision to proceed with the ETS.

1 out of 2 long-term smokers die from smoking? Believe it or not, it might be correlation - not causation. Many long-term smokers find it so hard to give up because they *really* need the drug. Smoking apparently reduces depression, anger and stress. It can help to somewhat "rebalance" a system that has been scewed by early childhood damage. The supression of smoking may only lead to the manifestation of another symptom - maybe even worse. Actually, the most powerful thing you can do to stop smoking (or premature deaths in general) is help to reduce child abuse. Notice how long-term smoking is associated with lower socio-economic groups? So is serious child abuse.
