Advice refutes Labour's conflict allegations

Prime Minister John Key today released legal advice that totally refutes allegations made by Pete Hodgson and the Labour Party in the last few days.

Prime Minister John Key today released legal advice that totally refutes allegations made by Pete Hodgson and the Labour Party in the last few days.

"The advice from the law firm that established Aldgate, my blind trust, states I don't have ‘any ownership or other interest in Whitechapel', and that it is not correct for Mr Hodgson to claim the assets I did own were ‘transferred' to Whitechapel Ltd.  They were in fact sold to Whitechapel.

"All this means that I have no beneficial interest in Whitechapel Ltd, which is central to Labour's claims of a conflict of interest.

"As I have been saying for the last few days, I utterly refute the allegations made by Mr Hodgson and Labour.  They are nothing more than muckracking and factually incorrect.

"To ensure transparency, I will be providing the advice from the law firm to the Speaker, to support my position and refute Labour's privileges complaint against me.

"Clearly, Labour has no response to the Budget and they are resorting in desperation to muckracking.  This isn't the first time Labour has employed these tactics - we also saw it during the 2008 election campaign."

I have many issues... about a great many thing, but seriously, please stop getting yourself cornered. The media are, as you know, looking for anything, but these issues can be dealt with behind the scenes. It's not your fault, I know that, but there is nothing to defend, nothing to talk about in the public forum. I look forward to the news and updates of my government, but it seems it is taken up with your private issues and boo hooing from a collapsed opposition. I have to come on here to find out anything that is happening to my country. Again, I know that is not your fault, I am mearly asking if you could try and walk away, ignore and not get into these silly accusations and debates. Be the first PM not to do it. There should be a law in place that covers privacy, this is a financial element of your private life, unrelated to taxpayers. If an MP was to speak out about something that was not public domain, he/she should be simply, terminated and fined or sentenced, and left to fend for themselves. Everytime he does speak after the event, the fine or sentence goes up. I am not bias, in fact, a man in your financial position having your way with an econemy, does make me a little wary, but I also see that this silliness is just that.
